The UEFA 2020 finals: it's 51 European football matches

It's called Euro 2020, but also european football 2020. The competition is in its sixteenth edition. A somewhat special edition, starting with the fact that, stamped 2020, it will take place in 2021 (COVID-19 requires, it is played exceptionally in 2021). It is nonetheless a high-level competition, envied by the many European nations that have managed to qualify.

Who are the favorites to win the trophy on July 11, 2021?

TOP 4 European nations

The Red Devils as number 1 of FIFA are part of the TOP 4 of the big favorites to win the final of July 11, 2021. Its French neighbors, the blues are most impressive with an armada in Attack, the trio dream "Griezmann- Mbappé-Benzema".

A Belgium France Final on July 11, 2021?

belgium-france, France-Belgium have become classics of both European TOP football and world TOP. It is still one of the posters in the semifinals of the League of Nations. This derby of neighboring nations could signal the hour of the Belgians' revenge! It seems very likely to find these two top nations in the last four.

UEFA 2020 runs from 11 June 2021 to 11 July 2021

In March 2020, the Union of European Football Associations, in short UEFA, has no other choice, in the face of the global pandemic, to postpone the competition. The 2020 UEFA Cup will therefore take place from 11 June to 11 July 2021, just one year after the dates originally planned.

The competition will take place in 12 different cities, selected since 2014. These cities are:

  • Bucharest and its National Arena
  • Copenhagen and its Parken Stadium
  • Glasgow and Hampden Park
  • London with Wembley Stadium
  • Budapest with the Ferenc-Puskas stadium
  • Bilbao which will open the doors of its San Mamès
  • Dublin and its Aviva Stadium
  • Amsterdam and the Johan Cruyff Arena
  • Saint Petersburg and the new FK Zenit stadium
  • Rome and its famous Olympic stadium
  • Baku which also has an Olympic stadium
  • Munich and the Allianz Arena

It should be noted in passing that Wembley was chosen for the semi-finals and the final. It is also this stadium which, in previous stages, replaces Brussels, which had scored a number of important points, but whose officials withdrew from the race on a voluntary basis.

Note also that the opening match will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.

A classic system of group matches followed by direct eliminations

The competition will take place in a fairly classic way, groups bringing together four countries. There will therefore be six groups to allow the 24 qualified countries to compete. The first two of each group as well as the four best third will be qualified for the round of 16. At this stage, each match becomes eliminatory. The different groups and their composition are:

Netherlands Group C

  • Netherlands

Group F, the French group

In all, therefore, 51 games will be played over a period of one month.

The Red Devils obviously won their place in the competition and were placed in Group B Their schedule is as follows:

  • June 12, 9 p.m .: Belgium 3- 0 Russia Lukaku 10 ', 88' Meunier 34 '
  • Time and date of the Belgians' next match: June 17 at 6 p.m .: Denmark - Belgium
  • Time and date of the Belgians' next match: June 21 at 9 p.m .: Finland - Belgium
